Jules Dupre (French 1811 ? 1889) Barbizon school, oil on canvas. Important member of the Barbizon school noted for his love of dramatic skies and the light and contrasts of rapidly changing weather. He was greatly influenced by Constable, the master of English landscape painting. Cattle watering at a stream bordered by pollard willows while a young cowherd blows a tune.
