The stretcher measures 71 x 86 cm and the frame 85 x 100 cm. Giacomo Francesco Cipper (1664-1736) Giacomo Francesco Cipper, also known as Il Todeschini, was born in Feldkirch near Vorarlberg and established himself in Milan from 1696. Little is known about his education, but he is documented as a specialist in genre painting and the rendering of genre-like parables. Besides, he also painted still lifes and landscapes. Cipper was mostly active in the Veneto as well as in Lombardy. Examples of his artistic output are today preserved at the National Gallery in London, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg and the Prado in Madrid.
