Krishen Khanna (b. 1925) Krishen Khanna was born in Faislabad, Pakistan, and attended the Imperial Service College in Windsor, England. From 1942 to 1944, he studied at the Government College in Lahore. In 1947, he moved to India with his family. Since 1961, Khanna has been working exclusively as a self-taught artist. In the 1960s, scholarships took him to Japan, Washington and New York. In New York he came into touch with the tendencies of Abstract Expressionism. Khanna participated in the biennials of Venice, São Paulo, Havana, Tokyo and New Delhi. Works by him can be found in the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi, in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Asian Art in Berlin and other collections of important museums.
