Wolf' Framed Dimensions: 40 x 60 cm Good condition Idyllic moorland by the German painter Georg Wolf; paintings by the artist fetch over €3,000 at international auctions The preferred motif of the artist, the Lüneburg Heath is also shown in this landscape painting. In the foreground single birches can be seen behind which slightly rising spreads the heath. A lone hiker on the horizon enlivens the composition. The oil painting is signed lower right 'G. Wolf'. The surface is slightly soiled and the corners of the hardboard are somewhat bumped. Apart from that the overall condition is age-appropriate good. The frame is in good condition with only minor signs of wear. The painting measures 40 x 60 cm, the framed dimensions are 51 x 71 cm. Georg Wolf (1882-1962) Born in Alsace the painter began his artistic studies at the School of Applied Arts in Strasbourg. He later studied at the Art Academy in Düsseldorf with the animal painter Julius Paul Junghanns. In the 1930s, Wolf found in the Lüneburg Heath with the German heaths his favorite subjects for landscape and animal paintings. After his wife's death he moved in 1944 from Düsseldorf to the city of Uelzen at the Lüneburg Heath, where he spent the rest of his life.
