The work depicts the access road nestled at the bottom of the Monte Caputo and leading straight towards the beautiful city in the distance. The painting is in good condition, as it only shows a number of tiny spots among the clouds in the sky. The frame is also well preserved and measures 39.3 x 52.2 cm. The size of the canvas is 32 x 46 cm. Paul Rudolph Linke (1844-1917) Paul Rudolph Linke was born in Breslau and became active as a portrait, landscape and genre painter. He studied at the art academy in Berlin and gained great sources of inspiration during his extensive travels through Italy and North Africa. Besides, Paul Linke was also commissioned as fresco artist and executed a number of wall paintings in castles, churches and monasteries.
