Titled 'Tailor's Dummies' oil on Masonite, unsigned, 28 x 35 inches panel size , original frame measures 35.25 x 42.5 inches overall. This painting has been authenticated and dated to 1948 by the artist's son, Joseph Koerner. The period 1945 to 1957 is widely considered Henry Koerner's Magic Realism period, for which he is recognized as a master. Exhibited: Midtown Galleries, New York, January 25-February 19, 1949. This was Henry Koerner's first solo exhibition held in the United States. A watercolor or gouache of the same title was also shown. Provenance: Midtown Galleries to Joseph Verner Reed (1902-1973).
