It is part of an extensive series of paintings entitled 'Images of Russia', in which the artist explores historical events and persons. Our painting with the title 'White Song', which is a second version of 'Russian song' from 1960, originated after a trip the artist took through historic villages and landscapes of Russia, where he found his inspirations. His images combine the history and beauty of the country, expressed in a symbolic style. The painting is signed in Cyrillic upper the left 'И. Глазунов'. It is overall in very good condition with only minor signs of age and wear. The image measures 80 x 109.5 cm, the framed dimensions are 88 x 117 cm. Ilya Sergeevič Glazunov (born 1930) Ilya Sergeevič Glazunov was born in Leningrad in 1930 where he attended the local art school as an 8-year-old. From 1951-57 he studied at the Repin Art Academy with Boris Vladimirovič, followed by a teaching assignment at the Surikov Art College. In 1986 he was founder of the Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, being its Director from 1987. Glazunov was honored with several awards, among others, he was honored National Artist of the Russian Federation. In addition, he has participated in numerous national and international exhibitions.
