Signed lower right: Friedrich VoltzIn his description of this early piece (dated 1842), Siegfried Wichmann speaks of a painter "inspired by Heinrich Bürkel, who transformed the Alpine landscape into a picture postcard landscape of proto-tourism which was well received in the exhibitions in Munich. He was rightfully considered the creator of a new type of landscape, superseding the formulaic Alpine views popular at the time."
