Edward Ladell (British, 1821-1886) Still life with a pineapple, roses, carnations, cob nuts, peaches, a pear, black grapes, raspberries on a parcel gilt tazza, with a parcel gilt casket, on a table signed lower left with initials "EL" on the table oil on canvas h:59 w: 49 cm Provenance: William and Lucy Beckett by 1889, and by descent. Edward Ladell painted in the Dutch tradition and specialised in still lifes of fruit and flowers with a wonderful degree of realisim. His love of silver objects recurs again and again in his paintings. His work is much sought after with its richness and colour and great quality.
