Oil on canvas Housed in a fine period deep gesso decorated gilt frame with multiple liners having artist & title plaque (probably original) Signed lower right "Chas. C. Curran, N.A. 1909" Curran studied at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League in New York. He also studied (1889-1891) at the Academie Julian in Paris. His Impressionistic style had been greatly influenced by his time in France, both in terms of his subject matter (young woman in lush plein air landscapes) and the bright, broken brushstroke of his palette. Curran first came to Cragsmoor, New York, a well-known art colony in the Hudson River Valley in 1903. He established a studio there, and for the next thirty years divided his time between Cragsmoor and New York City SIZE: 29" x 24".
