signed lower right oil on panel John Arthur Lomax is known for his genre paintings that often have a dramatic or sentimental theme. Lomax studied painting in Stuttgart and at the Munich Academy, often exhibiting his artwork at Suffolk Street and the Royal Academy from 1880 onwards.
