RUBENS SANTORO (Italian, 1859-1942) ENVIRONS DE VENICE oil on panel; signed, l.r.; 10 1/2 x 13 1/2 in. (15 x 17 1/2 in.) Provenance: Collection of Mrs. Reginald B. Rives (Gabrielle Warren Rives), Sea Cliff, Bellevue Avenue, Newport, by decent to her son Lloyd Michael Rives, Boston. Other Notes: This painting bears a small envelope affixed to verso addressed to "Mrs. R. B. Rives / 'Sea Cliff' / Bellevue Ave. / Newport / R.I.". The card contained within appears to be the calling card for Lloyd Michael Rives and is inscribed "Dearest Mummy - / A get-well present with all my love. I look forward to seeing it in August. LM". The card is dated July 29, 1965.
