§ Bryan Organ (British, b.1935) Study for Girl on a Swing signed lower left "Bryan Organ 1967" and inscribed with title pencil and watercolour h:14 w: 12 cm Provenance: Dr and Mrs N C Low, Leicester. Known for his quiet but character-driven portraits, Bryan Organ produced portraits of many eminent sitters, from members of the royal family to cultural figures such as Elton John. Born in Leicester, Organ originally studied at Loughborough College of Art, before attending the Royal Academy Schools from 1952-59, and later becoming a lecturer at Loughborough in 1959. Organ's first solo show was at Leicester City Art Gallery in 1968, and he has been represented by the Redfern Gallery since 1967. Some of his works are held in the National Portrait Gallery, including HRH Prince of Wales, from 1967; Diana, Princess of Wales, from 1981; and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh from 1983.
