Tomas Sanchez, (Cuban, b. 1948) Untitled Landscape signed and dated mid foliage right side, watercolor ion paper 26 by 19 3/4 in. Tom_s S_nchez born in 1948 in Aguada de Pasajeros, Cuba, is best know for his exquisite, masterfully drawn color saturated forested landscapes which both provoke and invite for the viewer. In 1954 at the very young age of 16 year Sanchez moved to Havana to study painting at the San Alejandro National Academy of Fine Arts. Tomas Sanchez has been the recipient of numerous artistic accolades, including in 1980 the prestigious XIX Joan Mir_ International Drawing Prize and in 1981 he participated in an individual exposition at the prestigious Joan Mir_ Foundation_s Centre de_Estudis d_Art Contemporani in Barcelona, Spain, thus launching his International Career. In 1984 Sanchez was recognized with Cuba_s National Prize for Painting at Havana_s First Biennial.
