작품 상세
''Garden of Allah'', signed lower right: Dana Bartlett, signed again and titled verso, oil on board under glass, 10'' H x 10'' W, est: $1500/2000. Note: The Garden of Allah was a famous apartment unit in West Hollywood, at 8080 Sunset Blvd. Originally built in 1919, it became a landmark for wild parties held by the owner and screen actress Alla Nazimova. Over the years, the complex was called home by well known celebrity and literary figures, including F. Scott Fitzgerald. In 1959, the landmark buildings were torn town to make way for a progress: a bank and nearby strip mall. Urban legend has it that Joni Mitchell's 1970 song "Big Yellow Taxi" traces this event with the line "They paved paradise and put up a parking lot"..
