Artist Biography: Born in Philadelphia into an artistic family, Percy Moran established his reputation with genre scenes of children and rural life in colonial America. He was a specialist in Colonial and historical subjects, genre and landscapes. Many of his works were reproduced in photogravures, mezzotint and colored etchings, and published in books and magazines.His father was marine artist Edward Moran, and his uncle was Thomas Moran, nationally famous western landscape painter. He spent much time learning from his father in his studio and attended the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and the National Academy of Design in New York.
