Eugene Verboeckhoven (1798-1881) Mother and child (in collaboration with Henri Compatosto (1833-1910)) Oil on panel Signed 'Eugene Verboeckhoven' lower left 54cm x 75cm Eugene Verboeckhoven (Ypres 1798-1881 Brussels) He studied at the Academie in Ghent from 1816-1818, after years of being influence by Ommegack, Potter and Cuyp, he had learnt the ability to encourporate classic traditional landscapes with detailed 17th century styled animals, from sheep to chickens. He then travelled around europe for around 20 years and later settle in Brussels.It was there he astablished a studio where he collaborated with many imporatant painters of his period including De Jonghe, De Noter, Koekkoek, Klomberg, Compatosto, Verwee among many others.
