This finely executed red chalk drawing with grey wash depicts a lively bacchanalian scene. At the center, a semi-nude woman plays a pair of cymbals while a figure behind her pours wine into a bowl. A statue of Bacchus presides over the scene, with several playful putti at the woman’s feet , three of them fighting for a cock. The composition is similar to a drawing attributed to the Dutch painter and draughtsman Gerard de Lairesse. The work is presented in a gilded frame with hand-drawn passe-partout ( Dimensions: 46 × 43 cm).
