작품 상세

This black chalk drawing with white heightening on blue paper shows a head of a young girl dressed in a simple light undershirt. Blue paper was used from the late fifteenth century on. As a middle tone, the material allowed artists to easily model forms in light and dark, while also proving to be well suited for working in colored chalks. The girl has a very sensitive look rendered with great quality in a classical style. A Dutch work probably from the 18th century, maybe earlier.
