Inspired by folk art, Felix Timmermans and Brueghel, he developed a distinctive, colourful visual language filled with humour and narrative. Encouraged by his father, the painter Dirk Oudes, he remained faithful to his imagination and gained wide recognition both within and beyond the art world.
