Jan Koblasa's work from the 1960s represents a representative and valuable example of his return to painting after the intense sculptural era. Purely abstract motifs, a kind of pragmatic of all events, began to form in the 1960s into hints of stylized figures that reflect the trend of the New Figuration. The harsh structural deformations, chaotic strokes and organic polarities that try to interconnect each other in The Pair reflect the intimate and existential line that Jan Koblasa devoted himself to intensively.
