DESCRIPTION: Fine early 20th C pastel of a woman with flowers by well listed French artist Demetrios Galanis. Has monogram signature at lower right DG. Galanis is known to use this monogram as a signature on various works. This has been verified on a major art signature website as well as on works that have been sold at auction. The paper has an impressed watermark running vertically up the right edge. It reads nes MANUF res CANSON & MONTGOLFIER VIDALON. This is one of the most famous paper manufactures in France and this watermark is period to the early 20th C. It can be found on dozens of works by French masters from that era. It is a great fauvist modernist work by a well listed French artist. In addition to the central figure, there are two other men, a building, and a circular sign with the number 13. It looks like this is a view at a train station.
