John Austin Sands Monks (1850-1917) American painter and etcher. Monks studied art and etching techniques in New York under George Inness. These two artists shared the same studio for many years. J. A. S. Monks devoted his art almost exclusively to animal depictions, particularly sheep. He was a full member of the Salamina Club, the New York Etching Club, the Boston Art Club and the Copely Society. Original etching, Feeding Sheep, plate signed, image approx. 4-3/4 x 8-1/4 in. plus clean margins. Fine.
