Johann Ulrich Burri (1802-1870) Watercolor on paper Switzerland, 19th Century This veduta was created by the Swiss artist Johann Ulrich Burri (1802-1870). The painting is rich in detail and depicts rural life in the Swiss mountains. Burri’s paintings were influenced both by the classical and romantic canon of forms. They depict not only harmony and balance in the composition and coloring, but also capture a feeling of wanderlust and the bond with nature.
