Pencil on paper, signed lower left recto. On the reverse label of 'Galleria La Scaletta', S. Polo di Reggio Emilia. 4.72 x 6.89 in. A horse in motion is not a stationary horse that moves, but it is a moving horse, that is another thing that must be conceived and expressed as another completely different thing ... The sixteen people you have around you in a running trams are one, ten, four, three; they stand still and move; they come and go, they bounce on the road, devoured by a sunny area, then come back to sit down. And sometimes on the cheek of the person we talk to in the street we see the horse that passes away. Our bodies enter the sofas on which we sit, and the sofas come into us, just as the tram that passes enters the houses, which in turn are thrown onto the tram and amalgamate with it. U.
