The drawing depicts an abstract shape of black lines, titled with “CAUDA DE MULHER“ (= “The Woman’s Tail“) on top. Juliao Sarmento often expresses brief ideas in his drawings, which animate the viewers to draw their own interpretations and conclusions on his works. The piece is in very good overall condition. It is titled upper left “CAUDE DE MULHER“. Verso, it is additionally titled, signed and dated “CAUDA DE MULHER J. Sarmento 14/3/82“. It measures 32 cm in height and 22 cm in width. Juliao Sarmento (born 1948) The Lisbon artist Juliao Sarmento is one of the most versatile contemporary artists of his generation. His paintings, sculptures, installations, films and multimedia works are mainly based on the principle of the collage. Since the 1970s, his works are presented nationally and internationally at numerous solo and group exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale in 1997. Examples of his works belong to private and public collections and can be found in famous museums such as the Tate Modern in London.
