Lugt 1333) Study of a sitting female figure in drapery with delicate white heightening Estimate by Auctionata Expert: 3,000 Euro Condition: The sheet is in an age-related condition and overall discolored. To the left handling creases, partially with some skinning, foxing spots, scuffing and tiny holes. The upper right corner is restored. The sheet dimensions measure 15 x 19.1 cm. The sheet is mounted to a mat with two tapes at the upper border and framed. The frame measures 33.9 x 43.9 cm. Abraham Bloemaert (1564-1651) The Dutch painter and son of sculptor and architect Cornelis Bloemaert received his education in Utrecht and Paris. In 1597 he registered as a citizen in Amsterdam and was active in Utrecht from 1611 onwards. Bloemaert was a representative of the Flemish school and refined history painting, portrait painting, genre and landscape painting. He greatly influenced Dutch painting, one of his students was for example Gerrit van Honthorst. Bloemaert works can be admired for example at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, at the Louvre in Paris and at the galleries of Berlin.
