Loretta Lux (born 1969) Over the last ten years, the Dresden-born Loretta Lux created an extensive work, which is highly sought after internationally. Her photographic work, depicting especially children and young people are formal, fascinating and surreal. The photographs seem to be layered like oil paintings on canvas, which testify to Lux’ artistic training as a painter. The models, props, costumes and sceneries are carefully chosen - often featuring symbolic content with reference to Old Master paintings. In 1889, Lux moved to Munich shortly before the Wall came down, after she had been denied to study art in the GDR. From 1990 to 1996, she studied painting and graphics with Gerd Winner at the Academy of Fine Arts. Lux lives and works in Monaco.
