DESCRIPTION: William Baziotes (American, 1912-1963). Charcoal and graphite on paper. Nude male figure drawing. Signed at lower right corner "Wm Baziotes". In black painted frame. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, William Baziotes studied for three years at the National Academy of Design. He was an artist for the Works Progress Administration from 1936 to 1941. Baziotes founded the Subjects of the Artists School in 1948 with Robert Motherwell and Mark Rothko. MEASUREMENTS: 26-3/4" x 16-1/2". Overall with frame 29-3/8" x 19-1/8". CONDITION: Toning to paper. Discoloration, foxing, some staining to paper. Rubbing to charcoal. Chips and losses to frame.
