Depicted on each sheet is a soldier in his full equipment. Strasser studied at the Vienna Academy and then at the Academy in Munich under Angelo Jank. At the beginning of World War I Strasser worked as a war artist, of which our two drawings are a testimony. The drawings are each signed, dated and inscribed. The sheets are framed under mat. One is torn at the lower left corner with minimal loss of material. Both sheets show minimal foxing. Otherwise they are in good condition. The sheet dimensions are 26 x 16 cm and 25 x 16 cm. The framed dimensions are 31 x 25 cm. Roland Strasser (1892-1974) Roland Strasser was born in Vienna in 1892. Between 1911 and 1914 he studied at the Vienna Academy under Rudolf Jettmar, then moved to the Munich Academy, where he studied under Angelo Jank. A study trip took him to Holland in 1919, followed by a journey to the Far East to Indonesia, as well as Peking, Mongolia over India to Tibet. Back from his world travel, he finally settled in London in 1927/28. (cru) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
