Signed 'DIX.' lower right. The first larger group of works involving drawings of female nudes appeared in the war year of 1914: the present drawing is certainly among the most impressive as well as the most coherent in terms of style and motif. On the one hand, the Jugendstil-like, organically dynamic curves of the freely articulated nude merge with the indicated surroundings; on the other hand, the rhythmical character and simplification of form is a new, semi-abstract aspect that suggests a reception of Cubist concepts of form. 23.6/23.9 x 31.8 cm
