They illustrate abstract compositions, mostly geometrical forms, possibly studies for sculptures. Uhlmann has worked mainly as a sculptor, his sculptures are usually found in public spaces. All works are overall in good condition. The double-sided watercolor signed lower right 'H. Uhlmann 48' and provided with the dedication 'Für Karl Kirowsky zum 28.9. 48' below the image. The sheet is mounted at two points on a pedestal and shows occasional foxing. The back side around the edges with old traces of mounting and light water stains. The 5 small studies are all mounted on a support and show normal age-related signs of wear. Remaining traces of glue visible, as well as minimal foxing. Otherwise overall of good condition. Sheet size: 34.7 x 27.2 cm and 57.5 x 40.7 cm. The folder for storage with traces of use. Hans Uhlmann (1900-1975) Hans Uhlmann was born in Berlin in 1900. Trained as a mechanical engineer, he later turned to becoming a sculptor, whereas his first sculptures were created wire. During the war, his metal sculptures were degraded as degenerate art. In 1950 he became professor at the University of the Arts in Berlin. In addition, he has participated in numerous exhibitions, including documenta 1, 2, 3 and 6 in Kassel.
