Mastenbroek, J.H. van (1875-1945). (The steam life-boat "Prins der Nederlanden" rescueing shipwrecked persons from the sea, the shipwrecked "Valka" in the background). Drawing, charcoal and pencil, 20x33 cm., signed and "1929". = The life-boat "Prins der Nederland" capsized in 1929 during its third attempt to rescue the shipwrecked passengers of the "Valka", which ran into trouble in a severe storm on 16 January 1929. The crew of eight all drowned. ADDED: 3 other drawings, mostly anonymous, i.a. of a skating scene (21x28 cm. Some sl. foxing; sm. diagonal cut in each corner) and a landscape with trees and a farmhouse (21x28,5 cm.).
