Signed in ink, in image, lower left, titled in pencil, lower margin, and signed again in full on verso, in brown ink: "Ernest H. Shepard / Shamley Green/ Guildford." Recto bears marginal toning and matte burn to outer edges of image, a 2-inch marginal stain along left edge of board, and penciled dimensions on lower board; verso bears old glue stains in lower margin, archival tissue paper on edges, and label in corner (Newman's Artist Drawing Table, 24 Soho Square London, W) with "H. P. C" [House at Pooh Corner] penned in Shepard's hand, scuffed.
