DESCRIPTION: Walt Francis Kuhn (American, 1877-1949). Pen and ink on cream wove stock. Reclining nude. Signed and dated lower right "Walt Kuhn 1928". Matted and framed. Walt Kuhn was born in Brooklyn in 1877 and began his career in 1898 as a cartoonist for a San Francisco newspaper. He studied at the Royal Academy in Munich from 1901 to 1903, and returned to New York where he worked as a cartoonist and magazine illustrator. By 1910 he was a successful artist known for his paintings of clowns and circus performers and in 1913 was an organizer of the Armory Show. He died in New York on July 13, 1949. MEASUREMENTS: 11" x 15-1/2". Overall with frame 19-3/4" x 23-3/4". CONDITION: No defects noted.
