Mâcon FRANCE , Centenaire de la Société Medico-Chirurgicale , c . 1905, an Art Nouveau bronze award plaque by P.-A. Morlon, diptych, symbolic figures of Surgery preparing to operate on a patient at left, Medicine consoling the mother of a small child at right, rev. female allegory of Science holding branch plucked from the Tree of Life, legend below in three lines, named (Dr. Poupon), edge impressed bronze and cornucopia, 91 x 70mm, 205.14g (Maier 292 [Sale, lot 1581]; PBE 611; BDM IV, 152; cf. iNumis Dec. 2020, 278; cf. Kölner Münzkabinett 112, 1018; cf . Elsen 97, 2013 ). Very fine, scarce £80-£100 --- Provenance: DNW Auction 45, 1 March 2000, lot 766. The Société was founded in 1805 (or possibly 1806) as the Société Médico-Pratique de Paris. In late 1892, it became the Société Médico-Chirurgicale de Paris, then in April 1907 it, along with the Société de Médecine et Chirurgie Pratiques (founded in 1808 as the Société de Médecine Pratique de Paris) was absorbed into the Société de Médecine de Paris
