First Nations, Canada, Inuit, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A charming Inuit carving in dark soapstone depicting two walruses resting back-to-back, their rounded forms rendered to capture the animals' natural bulk and character. The tusks are fashioned from carved antler or bone. Though unsigned, the carving bears the Canadian Igloo Trademark label, certifying it as authentic Inuit work made post-1958 under Canada's national certification program.
