Peter Tysoe (Born 1935) Sculpture in glass and metal. Signed. Unique piece. 20th century. Dimensions: H: 62 ; W: 107 ; D: 10 cm. Bedford-born artist and sculptor using a variety of traditional and modern materials. He attended Oxford Technical School and Oxford School of Art from 1952 to 1956, then Goldsmiths' College School of Art from 1956 to 1957. He qualified as an art teacher, was a member of the Society of Designer-Craftsmen and the British Society of Master Glass Painters, and for a time president of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen and the Federation of British Craft Societies. He carried out numerous commissions in Britain and continental Europe, before becoming head of the glass section at Jam Factory Workshops in St Peters, South Australia, where he lives in Adelaide. In 1990, he presented an exhibition of glass sculptures at the Jam Factory Gallery. The Plymouth City Museum & Art Gallery owns some of his works.
