Jean-Paul VAN LITH (born 1940) Polychrome glass sculpture. Signed on the back of the base and dated 90 Unique piece. 20th century Dimensions: H: 39 ; W: 25 ; D: 22 cm. Jean-Paul VAN LITH trained at the Ecole des Arts Appliqués in Paris, in the ceramics section, which quickly led him to glass. In Biot, where his studio is located, he collaborated with Jean-Claude Novaro from 1979 to 1981, creating some six hundred pieces decorated with metallic lustre and gold, following a technique he had applied in ceramics. In 1982, he began a collaboration with a crystal manufacturer (Waltersperger) in Blangy-sur-Bresle, northern France. Jean-Paul Van Lith creates his first crystal pieces with the help of a Venetian glassmaker. In 1982, the Por-tieux glassworks in the Vosges hired him to set up a glass art studio (which remained in operation until 1984). Monica Damian and Matei Negreanu joined him there. In 1984-1985, i was appointed designer and instructor at the Hartswiller crystal glassworks near Strasbourg (founded in 1932). His work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions, mainly in France, but also in Luxembourg, Portugal, the U.S.A., Hong Kong and Korea. In Seattle (U.S.A.), he exhibited with American glass artist Dale Chihuly.
