Pair of Hand-Carved Owl Sculptures on Root Wood / Driftwood Bases – Del Higgins, Dexter, Maine, Hand-carved and hand-painted owl sculptures by noted Maine folk artist Del Higgins (Dexter, Maine). Each owl is mounted on a natural root / burl wood base, creating a rustic woodland composition. The carvings feature detailed feather texturing, expressive painted eyes, and naturalistic poses. Both examples retain their original paper maker’s labels on the underside identifying the artist and location. These are excellent examples of mid-to-late 20th century Maine wildlife folk art, highly collectible among regional carving and Americana collectors.
