Antique 18th–19th C. Spanish Colonial / Santos Carved Wood Figure – Distressed Polychrome – 21” – Religious Folk Art, A compelling and expressive antique carved wood Santos figure, likely Spanish Colonial or Latin American, dating approximately from the late 18th to mid-19th century. The figure depicts a robed male saint—possibly Christ, St. Francis, or a disciple—with hands extended in blessing or offering. The carving displays strong folk-devotional characteristics: simplified facial modeling, deeply gouged hair, carved feet, and a long robe painted in layered polychrome now heavily worn. The garment retains traces of blue, white, and earlier pink or flesh-tone layers, along with evidence of original polychrome underpainting. The piece stands mounted on an original or early multi-tier wooden base, MEASURES APPROX. 19" HIGH, BASE 9 1/2" WIDE AND 8" DEEP, Condition as seen in photos provided
