A cast bronze sculpture of a Native Alaskan dancer, wearing a traditional Chilkat blanket and a carved headdress by Robert M. Cavanaugh (b.1927), who is celebrated for his work in Western genre sculpture and active in Montana. The nameplate on the piece is edition marked A/C (Artist's Copy). Cavanaugh was born in the Black Hills of South Dakota and spent his early years on ranches near the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation after which he studied fine arts in Phoenix, Arizona, and later at the Los Angeles Art Center School. Sculpture measures approximately 12" x 7.5" x 11.75" tall.
