A Francois Meheut (1905-1981) Bronze - Signed w/ Foundry Mark This is a Heavy Bronze signed Francois Meheut to the front.... with the Susse Foundry Mark to the side. This is a very good piece. It measures It measures 43cm high. Francois Meheut History: After three years of study at the Regional School of Fine Arts in Rennes, François Méheut was admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris where he was a student of Jean Boucher. In 1930, he won the first second Grand Prix de Rome in sculpture. Until 1940, when he was mobilized and taken prisoner, he collaborated with the Susse foundry in the production of many sculptures. He was appointed drawing teacher in Boulogne-sur-Mer and then in Nantes at the Lycée Eugène Livet. He then abandoned sculpture to devote himself exclusively to painting. Married to a professor of applied art, he is the father of Philippe Méheut, painter, songwriter and performer. He died in Nantes on June 24, 1981.
