작품 상세
DAVID FAHRNER (Freudenstadt, 1895 - id., 1962) "Femininity", 1941. Bronze. Signed at the bottom. Exhibitions: "Un poco de escultura, por favor!: La escultura europea del siglo XX", European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM), Barcelona, 2014. Reproduced in the catalogue of this exhibition, published by the Fundació de les Arts i els Artistes, 2014. Size: 35 cm. high. A lover of the human body, David Fahrner knew how to extract beauty from the graceful movements of the female nude. His sculpture stems from the study of life and is rooted in tradition. Little information is currently available on this sculptor. The bulk of his work is preserved in the town of his birth, both in the town hall museum and in the public space, since after the Second World War he was one of the authors of its reconstruction: in fact, his Venus, located in the centre of Freudenstadt, is the symbol of this revival. However, he also received commissions from other places in south-west Germany. He was also a founding member of the artistic community "The Square".
