Italo Scanga (Italian, 1932-2001), Cubist Head, 1985, painted wood, signed and dated on plaque lower left, overall: 11"h x 5.5"w x 4.75"d. Provenance: Collection of Peter Selz (Berkeley, California). Mr. Selz taught at the University of California, Berkeley, from 1965-1988 where he concurrently served as founder and director of the university art museum from 1965-1973. Before joining UC Berkeley, Selz served as Curator of Painting and Sculpture at the Museum of Modern Art, New York from 1958-1965.
