작품 상세
Artist: FORTUNATO DEPERO (1892-1960) Size: 11 1/2 x 11 1/2 in./29.2 x 29.2 cm This unique wooden Cubist sculpture of Pathé's rooster logo, standing upon a Pathé phonograph record, is likely an example of in-store "shopper marketing," as practiced by the '20s avant-garde. Its creator, Fortunato Depero, was an important figure in the Italian Futurist movement, transmitting Futurism's aesthetic character of high art into commercial interior design. (His work formed part of the Guggenheim's seminal 2014 survey of Italian Futurism.) Pathé, for its part, was a very strong manufacturer of vinyl records in the '20s, largely due to the electronic recording method mentioned in Cassandre's poster. That's the kind of fidelity that will wake you up in the morning. This piece is featured in Il Futurismo e la Grafica, and makes an ideal companion to Cassandre's masterpiece. (Bird, A/V)
