Ottmar Hörls 'Gordian knot' which refers to the well-known phrase of an intractable problem solved easily, is made of large, black synthetic material tubes – agreeing with the artists' philosophy of focusing on the aesthetic of the everyday culture. Condition: The tubes are in good condition with a few creases affecting the rills of the tubes and they are slightly dusty. The aluminum sheet shows creases as well and the wooden base is affected by minor signs of wear as marks and creases. The overall dimensions of the sculpture including the wooden base are ca. 200 x 124 x 117 cm. Ottmar Hörl (b. 1950) Ottmar Hörl is a contemporary German artist living in Southern Germany and well-known for his sculptures and objects. He focusses on the daily things and on the aesthetic of the everyday culture. Famous works are the series of 7000 rabbits, produced as homage for the German artist Albrecht Dürer and his painting 'Ein junger Feldhase'. The rabbit-sculptures were exhibited in public space in Nuremberg. Hörls works were presented in various national and international collections and museums such as Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart, Sprengel Museum, Hanover and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, USA as well as in public space.
