작품 상세

Elegante Dame am Tisch Sitzend, an important bronze after the original by Bernhard Hoetger, (German, 1874-1949), the patinated bronze depicting an elegant lady sitting to take tea, signed in the bronze h:25 w:43 d:30 cm Bernhard Hoetger was born in 1874 in Dortmund Germany. A sculptor and painter, he was a follower of the Expressionist movement which emerged from Germany at the turn of the 20th century. Expressionist artists often employed swirling, swaying lines as a means of conveying their emotions and reaction to the modern world; art was deemed to come from within the artist rather than a depiction of the external world. Hoetger was inspired by the works of Rodin, having travelled to Paris in 1900 to view the Exposition Universelle. He died in Switzerland in 1949.
