HR Giger was fascinated by the representatives of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism and established lasting friendships with artists like Ernst Fuchs, who deeply inspired his very own creepy and considerably surrealistic compositions. The present bronze is titled 'Bambi-Alien' and reveals a typical example of his so called 'biomechanical' style, which combines organic and technical aspects within the creature. Interestingly, the bronze is also considered an ironic statement on the annually broadcasted Bambi Awards in German television. Condition: The bronze is in very good condition. The sculpture measures 16 x 10 x 5.5 cm. HR Giger (1940-2014) HR Giger, actually Hans Rudolf Giger, studied interior architecture and industrial design at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich. From 1966, he established himself as an interior architect and designer. At the same time, he was active as an artist. His artistic output comprises major paintings, as well as prints, sculptures and furnitures. From 1968, Giger decided to focus on his artistic activities, whereas he also became a successful scene and costume designer. His performances in the movie 'Alien' were, for instance, awarded with the Oscar for the best visual effects in 1980.
