Connolly, Esq., Ottawa on 25 April, 1960Note:Lady Kathleen Epstein (1901-1979) was the muse and the long time mistress who eventually became the second wife of Sir Jacob Epstein. The letters relate to recently received shipments of 3 Epstein bronzes of Deidre the Continental Gallery ordered from Lady Kathleen Epstein in 1959: "Deidre in a Slip"- as the director remarked "is perfect in a soft green tone" and "Deidre with Hands" "unfortunately, is not the case"... "The patina of the latter is a rather harsh flat green" The letters dating: December 11th, 1959; February 22nd, 1960 and May 18th, 1960, discuss the fact that each bronze is unsigned, lacks a foundry mark or date of the casting. As Lady Kathleen Epstein comments indirectly in her certification for this bronze of "Deidre in a Slip" second castings are generally not signed
